Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA)Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) is a procedure used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This procedure uses heat to destroy specific areas of the prostate that are blocking urine flow. A needle-shaped device is inserted up the urethra inside a tube called a catheter. The tube protects other tissues from being burned as the device delivers heat to very precise areas of the prostate. Current as of: February 11, 2020 Author: Healthwise Staff Medical Review: E.
