What is the most important information I should know about anidulafungin?
Follow all directions on your medicine label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.
What is anidulafungin?
Anidulafungin is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus.
Anidulafungin treats candida (yeast) infections in the blood, or in the stomach or esophagus.
Anidulafungin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
What should I discuss with my health care provider before using anidulafungin?
You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to anidulafungin, caspofungin (Cancidas), micafungin (Mycamine), or similar antifungal medicines.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease.
It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
It may not be safe to breast-feed a baby while you are using this medicine. Ask your doctor about any risks.
How is anidulafungin given?
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Anidulafungin is given as an infusion into a vein. A healthcare provider will give your first dose and may teach you how to properly use the medication by yourself.
Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Do not use anidulafungin if you don't understand all instructions for proper use. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions.
You may need to mix anidulafungin with a liquid (diluent) in an IV bag. When using injections by yourself, be sure you understand how to properly mix and store the medicine. Prepare your injection only when you are ready to give it.
Anidulafungin is sometimes given for up to 14 days after lab tests show that the infection has cleared. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Anidulafungin will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
Store anidulafungin vials in a refrigerator. Do not freeze.
After mixing anidulafungin, you may store this mixture at room temperature for up to 24 hours before further diluting it. The final diluted solution may be stored at room temperature for up to 48 hours.
You may also store the diluted solution in a freezer for at least 72 hours before using it.
Do not use anidulafungin diluted solution if it has changed colors or has particles in it. Call your pharmacist for new medication.
Use a needle and syringe only once and then place them in a puncture-proof "sharps" container. Follow state or local laws about how to dispose of this container. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.
What should I avoid while using anidulafungin?
Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.
What are the possible side effects of anidulafungin?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Some side effects may occur during the injection. Tell your caregiver right away if you feel dizzy, nauseated, light-headed, itchy, sweaty, or if you have chest tightness or trouble breathing.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
- trouble breathing;
- pain or burning when you urinate;

low potassium --leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, increased thirst or urination, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness or limp feeling; or
-
low red blood cells (anemia) --pale skin, unusual tiredness, feeling light-headed or short of breath, cold hands and feet.
Common side effects may include:
- trouble sleeping;
- upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
- fever;
- headache; or
- anemia.

What other drugs will affect anidulafungin?
Other drugs may affect anidulafungin, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any medicine you start or stop using.
