Social work services
Social workers help patients and their families cope with changes in health status, including hospital care, disability, and new medical needs.
At Kaiser Permanente medical offices, social workers have a key role in supporting medical teams in delivering wellness and lifestyle management interventions. They provide psychosocial assessments, diagnosis of mental health conditions, brief interventions, and short-term counseling around substance-use disorders and mental health concerns (such as depression and anxiety).
Social workers are available at all 25 Kaiser Permanente medical offices. To ask about being put in touch with a social worker, contact a physician or staff member at your clinic or call the social work appointing line at 1-877-216-6216 to schedule a phone visit.
