What will my Virtual Plus care look like?
For most of your care, you’ll start with a virtual visit. A Kaiser Permanente doctor or clinician will give you care and prescriptions or will refer you to in-person care. When you’re referred for in-person care, your out-of-pocket cost will be lower than if you start in person care on your own.
You can still schedule your own in-person appointments for your first primary care visit and annual preventive visits, at no charge. 24/7 urgent care is also available without a referral and is a good option when your medical issues need quick, in-person attention but aren’t life-threatening.
Virtual care is always at no charge and includes:
- E-visits
- 24/7 online chat
- 24/7 advice line
- Video visits
- Phone appointments
- Emailing nonurgent questions to your care team
Virtual care is offered when appropriate and available. If you travel out of state, virtual care could be limited due to state laws that may prevent doctors from providing care across state lines. Laws differ by state.

Because you’re a Kaiser Permanente member, kp.org is your connection to great health and great care. When you register, you can securely access many timesaving tools and resources to help you stay on top of your health.
Registering is easy
Sign up online and follow the instructions. You’ll need your medical record number, which you can find on your member ID card.

We know that having a doctor you connect with is an important part of taking care of your health. Find a doctor who matches your specific needs today.
Choose the right doctor
Start by browsing our online doctor profiles to find a doctor who’s right for you. You can search doctors accepting new patients by gender, location, and languages spoken – and view their photos, education, and credentials.
You can also choose a personal doctor with any of these specialties:
- Adult medicine/internal medicine
- Family medicine
- Pediatrics/adolescent medicine (for children up to 18)
- Obstetrics-gynecology
Each covered family member may choose his or her own personal doctor.
Change anytime
And if you want to change to another Kaiser Permanente doctor at any time, for any reason, it’s easy to choose a new doctor online or by phone.
