Having a total joint replacement is a big decision and will include several steps. Before and after surgery, do your best to stay healthy, mentally and physically.
You have been instructed by your care team to get clearance from your dentist. You should schedule an appointment right away and turn the form into the clinic care team.
A Nurse Navigator will call to get to know you and gather some important questions to guide your care. They will be your main contact as you prepare and recover from surgery.
Within 30 days of surgery you will need to have a History & Physical Exam. At this appointment, your Primary Care Physician will collect labs and confirm you are healthy enough for surgery. About two weeks before surgery you will also get to meet with our Orthopedic care team for your Pre-op Appointment. Here, you will receive supplies and sign your consent form.
Right before surgery, you will hear from our Nurse Navigators once again to verify you have everything you need prepared for surgery, review your medications, and give you important instructions.
Following your surgery day, you should plan to recover at home. You will have the support of your coach and Nurse Navigators immediately. Physical Therapy visits will be scheduled based on your surgeon’s recommendations and your individual progress.
You will head into the clinic to meet with a Physician Assistant two weeks following surgery. This appointment will include a look at your incision, and you will be given instructions about continued recovery. Your last appointment will be with your surgeon about six weeks after surgery, in which you will discuss the long-term goals for your joint.
Together, we will coach and support you through surgery preparation and recovery.
