Columbia Medical Associates is now Kaiser Permanente Washington
Columbia Medical Associates is officially becoming Kaiser Permanente Washington on January 1, 2019. This exciting transition will give you access to the high-quality, coordinated care1 and convenience we provide at Kaiser Permanente medical centers. Here are the changes you can expect at the beginning of the new year.
4 medical offices are moving
Four medical offices are joining Kaiser Permanente Washington medical centers that offer more modern, updated facilities. The medical offices are scheduled to close on Saturday, December 29, 2018, and providers will begin seeing patients at the new locations on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
All current providers at these medical offices are moving to the new locations, and will continue to be available to care for you.
|Medical office||New location||Distance|
|Associated Family Physicians||Kaiser Permanente |

|Associated Family Physicians - Fairfield||Kaiser Permanente |
Veradale Medical Center
|Endocrinology Services||Kaiser Permanente |
Riverfront Medical Center
|Westview Family Medicine||Kaiser Permanente |
Lidgerwood Medical Center
Moving Associated Family Physicians and Westview Family Medicine will allow us to serve patients more efficiently and reduce duplication of services in medical offices that are very close to each other. Endocrinology Services is moving to Riverfront Medical Center as part of our plan to build on specialty services already offered at our largest and most centrally located medical center.
In addition to providers' offices, the Kaiser Permanente facilities include lab, radiology, and pharmacy — all under one roof. If you're not a Kaiser Permanente member, you'll have access to lab and X-ray services and will be billed for those services. Only Kaiser Permanente members can use our pharmacy services.
At Kaiser Permanente we're committed to helping you get and stay healthy. Because we're both a care provider and a health plan, you can get the care and coverage you need in one convenient package.
Health records will be available online
- Starting January 1, 2019, patient information will be recorded in MyChart, the electronic health records system used by Kaiser Permanente. With this change, you’ll be able to access your medical records online at kp.org/wa.
- View your lab results, immunization and blood pressure records, and a list of your current health conditions and allergies while at home or on the go.
- Care you receive anywhere that uses MyChart will be recorded in your medical record.
- In most cases, online medical records will only be available for care received on or after January 1, 2019. We’ll provide details on how to access older health records before the end of the year.
No cash payments in 2019
Beginning January 1, 2019, we will no longer accept cash payments. We will accept personal checks and bank cards that include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Health plan changes in the future
For now, Kaiser Permanente Washington will continue to accept coverage for established patients from health plans other than Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Options, Inc. This means established CMA patients may continue to get care from their current provider.
Here is a full list of health plans we will accept in 2019 for established CMA patients. Please check to be sure that your current provider is covered under your chosen health plan.

About CMA becoming Kaiser Permanente
Columbia Medical Associates (CMA) was purchased by Group Health in 2011. In 2017, Kaiser Permanente acquired Group Health, and CMA was part of the transaction.
The process of CMA joining Kaiser Permanente has been gradual since 2011. In early 2018, several of CMA’s medical offices were renamed Kaiser Permanente.
On December 31, 2018, the business entity of CMA will cease operations, and CMA providers and staff will all become part of Kaiser Permanente. Consolidating a few medical offices at the beginning of 2019 represents another major step.
1Washington Permanente Medical Group is the highest-ranked medical group in Washington state for the 11th year in a row. Washington Health Alliance 2017 Community Checkup, www.wacommunitycheckup.org.
