Shawna Okamoto, MD
I am a proud Seattle native. I have chosen Kaiser Permanente of Washington's Family Medicine Residency to pursue my medical training because of its high quality, innovative, and data-driven care. I can't think of a better place to build upon my foundation as a physician.
About My Practice: In medicine, every detail matters. It's not only about a patient's physical symptoms. It's also important to consider birthplace, upbringing, vocation, personal interests, family medical history, mood, and even housing conditions. To be the best possible physician and to advocate on behalf of my patients, it's crucial that I take the time to listen to them, to better understand their unique situation. I also believe that everyone deserves quality, evidence-based and medically appropriate health care. I love the relationships that I've cultivated with my patients and their families through many different stages of life. I have the profound honor of celebrating with families as newborns enter the world and also comforting patients as loved ones draw their last breath.
How I Thrive: I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, playing volleyball, and painting. Lately I've also been enjoying bouldering (a form of rock climbing) and yoga. I love trying new foods and being outdoors.
