Rachel Nakanishi, MD
Rachel studied neurobiology and Spanish at the University of Washington and worked as a medical scribe in addiction and chronic pain before enrolling in the school of medicine. In medical school, she participated in the UW’s Underserved and Hispanic Health Pathways, and volunteered with Casa Latina, an organization that serves a large Hispanic migrant worker population. She also served as a board member of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association and Q-med, a medical student organization dedicated toward LGBTQIA issues. During medical school, her experiences working with diverse patient populations and communities inspired her to pursue full spectrum family medicine and expand her Ob practice further with a fellowship after residency. Rachel was also the first female member of the UW boxing team and enjoys a wide variety of activities including Acroyoga, power vinyasa yoga, baking breads and desserts, hiking, game nights, learning Spanish slang and recreating cuisines from all over the world!
