Megan Melo, MD
Philosophy of care: As a primary care provider, I see myself as an advocate for better health for my patients as individuals, as well as for the communities we live in. I strive to partner with my patients to find better health consistent with their own goals and values.
Joined Kaiser Permanente: 2010
Education: Bachelor's degree in biology and English, Case Western Reserve University, 2003; Doctor of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine, 2007
Certifications: Board-certified in Family Practice
Medical interests: Obstetrics and reproductive health care, preventative care, and nutrition.
Personal interests: Most of my free time is spent with my husband and my active, young son. I also enjoy dancing, cooking, baking, and sometimes playing mindless computer games.
Statement: I have been a Kaiser Permanente patient since birth, and never imagined I would one day have a career here! I came to the residency first as a resident, and now as a faculty member because I appreciate the emphasis on evidence-based medicine and primary care at Kaiser Permanente, as well as the promise of the medical home. As a physician, I take care to partner with my patients to best address their health concerns in a way that fits their life, and I enjoy teaching residents to do the same. I find that teaching challenges me in the best way possible to continue learning and improving. By combining medical evidence, excellent patient-provider relationships, and shared-decision making, we can help our patients to move forward.
